Lorcana Core Rarity Symbols

These are the standard rarities found in the main set list of every expansion (typically cards 1–204).

CommonGrey CircleThe basic building blocks of any deck.
UncommonWhite BookCards with slightly more advanced strategic value.
RareBronze TrianglePowerful cards that often serve as deck anchors.
Super RareSilver DiamondHigh-impact cards with intricate mechanics.
LegendaryGold PentagonThe highest core rarity featuring iconic characters.

2025 Update for Legendary Cards: Starting with the Fabled expansion (Set Number 9), Legendary cards received a premium visual upgrade. New prints now feature a gold foil rarity stamp and a subtle high-gloss spot UV coating on the character art to distinguish them from Super Rares.

Premium & Secret Rarities

These “Secret Rare” cards are numbered beyond the standard set (e.g., 205/204). They feature unique artwork, specialized foiling, and higher collector value.

Epic Cards (Rainbow Fan)

Introduced in late 2025, the Epic tier sits between Legendary and Enchanted.

  • Identification: A fan-shaped symbol with vibrant rainbow coloring.
  • Key Features: Epic cards utilize an “Open Air” frame (no side borders) but retain the original card art. They are finished with a glossy rainbow foil treatment across the entire surface.

Enchanted Cards (Rainbow Hexagon)

Once the pinnacle of the game, Enchanted cards remain a cornerstone of Lorcana collecting.

  • Identification: A hexagon symbol with rainbow coloring and a white diamond center.
  • Key Features: These cards feature alternate “borderless” artwork in a unique illustrative style. They use the signature “Inkwash” foil treatment. As of 2026, the rarity symbol itself is now rainbow-foiled.

Iconic Cards (Rainbow Octagon)

The newest and rarest tier in the game, introduced in the Fabled set. There are typically only two Iconic cards per expansion.

  • Identification: An eight-sided octagon with a shifting rainbow gradient.
  • Key Features: Iconic cards are “collector trophies.” They feature full-bleed alternate illustrations, a unique “Lore Star” foil pattern, and 3D hot-stamped textures on the ink cost and character name, giving the card a physical, raised feel.

Special Classifications

Promo Cards (Special Logos)

Promo cards are awarded at tournaments, conventions (like D23), or through Disney partnerships.

  • Identification: These do not have a standard shape. Instead, they feature a unique logo—often a stylized “P” or an event-specific icon (like the Disney 100 or D23 stamps).

Scenario Cards (Unique Icons)

Found exclusively in the Illumineer’s Quest cooperative sets.

  • Identification: These have a custom rarity icon and a distinct color layout. They are designed for “Boss” gameplay and are not legal for standard competitive play.

Will There be More Rarity Options to the Lorcana Card Game?

Definitely yes! Like any other card game rarities and card types are a crucial part in making the trading card game expand in unique ways.

In future Lorcana expansions we can expect to find new and unique rarities, from special art styles to shiny new Holo types and more.

Lorcana Holographic Cards

The Lorcana Holo cards are something to bling your deck and serve as collectable items all at once.

In every Lorcana pack you will have 1 random card from that specific set ranging from common to legendary. So they are easy to find but very hard to collect them all.

The holographic cards have a unique shine designed according to each card art.
According to the game creators, you can have a full collection made only from shiny cards if you would like to.
